BioMeridian Stress Assessment
BioMeridian Stress Assessment is a form of Electrodermal Testing. This technology is the same as an EKG, which tests your heart, or an EEG, which tests your brain. In the 1940’s Dr. Reinhardt Voll, a German doctor, discovered that by putting a small current through specific acupuncture points he was able to obtain a reading of the health status of 14 different organ systems. This reading provides objective, reliable, and reproducible results and allows the doctor to observe if an organ system is balanced, stressed or weakened.
Dr. Risk uses her training in Chinese Medicine, supplementation and acupuncture to relate to the BioMeridian. The use of acupuncture points during the reading allows the BioMeridian to measure weakness (degeneration) and stress (inflammation). It has been proven that acupuncture points are communication centers in our nervous system that are sending messages to the brain1. By taking these readings, the nervous system’s response is being tested and an accurate overview of stress in the body is obtained. The patient will receive a print out of all the testing, and progress and changes will be monitored at each follow up visit.
On the initial appointment, after performing the initial discovery of the patients’ main complaint, history, and intake form, the doctor would then perform a BioMeridian test. During this test the patient would hold a brass hand mass that would offer a grounding component while the doctor puts a small stylus on certain points on the patient’s hands and feet. This process is painless, and only takes a few minutes. The testing starts with a 58 point assessment, screening for external pathogens and toxicity (such as heavy metals, viruses, bacteria, Lyme Disease, parasites and candida), seventy-eight food and environmental allergies, and ending with testing specific supplements and herbs your body will respond to in order to correct the inflammation that is present. Because this testing is specific for each person, it is not uncommon for two people with the same condition to be given a different protocol of herbs and supplements.
Patients are typically seen in six weeks cycles to allow the body to heal on the protocol. In this time, the patient may have lifestyle and diet changes, and is welcome to contact the office with questions. After the initial symptoms are cleared, most patients chose to move to Maintenance Care. In Maintenance Care, regular testing (every 3-6 months) on the BioMeridian can catch most inflammation before it turns into something serious.
BioMeridian Report 1
This is a graph from a patient’s first visit. On this graph you can see the organ systems, and the ones that come into stress. Red being a degenerated scenario, and yellow being stress. The objective is to get the patient’s readings into the green and have minimal stress.
BioMeridian Report 2
At this point the patient was taking supplements and had implemented the lifestyle changes they needed. There is still inflammation present on the chart, but the patient is already seeing positive changes.
BioMeridian Report 3
The patient has done some hard work and has been patient as the body has healed. The inflammation has cleared, and they are feeling healthier, have more energy and their main complaint has lifted.
