Booking Policy during COVID 19

Please note if staff feel they are being put at risk by someone in the clink, they can ask the patient to leave.  Immediately call 911.  We are not afraid to lay down charges, as this risks our lives, and potential for our business to be shut down again.

Overall rules

  • If a patient comes in with symptoms, we must call AHS and Alberta communicable diseases and shut our doors. 
  • Patients must come on their own, no one (including children) may accompany them unless they require assistance or the patient is a child (only one parent may accompany).  NO exceptions.  Why?  We must limit how many people we have in our office for safety.  
  • If a patient says they need someone to come in the room to help explain or remember, first offer them that this person can attend over the phone via speaker phone.  If they insist the other persona attend, you cannot make this decision and must speak with Dr. Risk to assess the schedule.  
  • Before coming to the appointment patients must be aware that they must wear a mask at all time in the office.  If they don’t bring one, one will be provided at a cost.  Gloves are optional, but if they want ours charge same price as the mask.

Upon booking we must ask:

  • Do you have current symptoms of COVID-19, such as cough, fever, shortness of breath, runny nose or sore throat, and less common signs and symptoms?   • ○Have you traveled internationally within the last 14 days? ○
  • Have you had unprotected close contact with individuals who have a confirmed or presumptive diagnosis of COVID-19 (e.g. individuals exposed without appropriate PPE in use). 
  • A patient who answers “yes” to any of the questions must not make an appointment for an in-person treatment. Advise the patient they should self-isolate and call Health Link 811. People who accompany patients, such as parents, caregivers, or companions, must be screened with the same questions as the patient.

Upon entering:

There are NO EXCEPTIONS to the following rules.  If they fail to comply/become belligerent, they will be asked to leave and possibly never return (up to Dr. Risk case by case.).

  • Be sure patient has a mask on.  If they refuse they will be asked to leave.  
  • They must fill out a COVID form before their appointment.  (which will be sent at the appointment reminder, and if they didn’t send or bring in provide to them). If they answer yes to any question, then they will be asked to leave, self-isolate and call 8-1-1.  NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Their temp must be taken and recorded in file and on COVID form.
  • If a patient comes in with symptoms, we must call AHS and Alberta communicable diseases and shut our doors. 
  • If they are early ask them to wait in their car or coffee cats.  Be sure you have their cell phone in case you have to call them.  Ask them to come in at their appointment time.

SRT 

In-person services must only proceed when the anticipated benefits of such services outweigh the risks to the patient and the acupuncturist. 

SRT Appointments are schedule with 15 mins in between. Patients cannot be more than 5 mins late, as this is the time of the testing.  If late and insist on testing, then they will lose a panel.  

Patients must wait in their car (or coffee cats) until appointment time, and then will be called when we are ready.

Acupuncture

  • Acupuncture is scheduled using all three rooms, with each room sitting for 15 mins between for cleaning.  Book appointments for 1 hour and 15 mins to help keep track of this. A Sample schedule is provided. 
  • Charge card or insurance before they come out.  
  • Beds, doors, chairs are sprayed and left for 

Picking up supplements:

  • Patients are asked to call or email in an order.  Ask for payment ahead of time: etransfer or cc.  If they want debit, have an invoice ready, and have them tap the clover through the glass.  
  • Bag up orders ahead of time
  • Free shipping at $250 is still offered so they can stay home if they don’t want to come in.  
  • They can order and pay via anantanutritionals. 
  • If they have an appointment they are still asked to give order ahead of appointment to keep check out shorter
  • If they don’t do this, they are to be asked to stay in their car, and call in the order.  You will then let them know it’s ready and they can come in and pay.  

Checking out a New patient:

  • If there is no one else in the clinic, then check out with them in front of you.  
  • Photocopy the supp sheet.  If it’s busy ask them to go to their car and call in and go over it with them.  Book next appointment
  • Gather up supplements
  • Ask them to come back in and charge them.  Or charge their cc.
