True health is incomplete without good mental health as this is a crucial part of our well-being. Our mental health encompasses how we feel, think, act, and interact with the world around us, emotions are reflections of our daily encounters and are normal and healthy. The concept of mental well-being applies to more than the presence or absence of a mental illness. Feelings of anxiety, depression, and irritability encompassed by mental health can be the symptom of an ailment such as heavy metals, candida albicans, Lyme Disease and parasites.

Anxiety is the most common mental health issue that impacts daily lives1. Anxiety is characterized by unpleasant feelings of fear and worry over anticipated events. Anxiety can present itself with panic attacks, palpitations, shortness of breath, nausea, phobias, social anxiety, Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Someone experiencing depression is struggling with feelings of relentless anguish over an extended period of time. Depression is usually in regards to an event from the past that affects emotions, physical health, relationships, and work. Signs of depression include feeling sad, worthless, hopeless, guilty, or anxious a lot of the time, irritable or angry, loss of interest, difficulty in focusing, concentrating, and making decisions, may withdraw from others, and changes to eating and sleeping patterns2. In main stream medicine the main courses of treatment for anxiety and depression are medication and counselling.

At Ananta Health, we work with patients who are at the beginning of their journey, or those who have been on medication for an extended period of time. Dealing with emotions, rather than avoiding them will help them become less extreme or uncontrollable. The treatment plan is individual and will be based on clinical findings and patient needs.
